Located in North West London, the Westhorpe Garden Project is a significant redevelopment initiative, delivering 251 new residential units, including 79 homes for retirement living. The project spans nine blocks ranging from four to seven storeys, alongside 15 three-storey townhouses, seamlessly integrating private and shared amenities.
VKE Group was responsible for the groundworks, reinforced concrete frame construction, and hard landscaping, following the clearance of existing structures. Our scope included the installation of pile caps and foundations, installation of drainage systems and structural concrete elements to support the multi-storey development. The project required careful logistical planning and sequencing, particularly in managing site access within a dense urban setting while ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding community.
A key aspect of this development was the use of traditional falsework and formwork systems, chosen for their reliability in ensuring structural integrity and delivering high-quality finishes. These systems provided a versatile and efficient approach to constructing the reinforced concrete slabs, walls, and columns. The only pre-cast elements used in the project were pre-cast stairs, in line with the project’s methodology and requirements. By utilising these proven techniques, we maintained full control over the construction process, ensuring a robust structure while adhering to strict project timelines.
In addition to the structural works, we also carried out the hard landscaping, which plays a key role in enhancing both the functionality and visual appeal of the development. Our scope specifically included tarmac roads/parking, kerbing and paving, ensuring a durable and high-quality finish. Through careful planning and execution, these external works seamlessly integrate with the surrounding environment, contributing to the overall accessibility and long-term resilience of the development.
